Plan Ahead

Updated: Apr 9, 2019

It sounds so terribly cliched but it is true. Failing to plan is planning to fail.

Avoid burning through your budget. By failing to prepare, you may easily find yourself investing in strategies that may not be the right fit for your business and will offer very little ROI (return on investment).

Identify your objectives. What are your immediate needs for the business? What are you trying to achieve with this campaign? By clearly outlining your objectives for the period in question, you can then determine which strategies are most suitable to achieve these goals. You will find yourself making more effective use of your time, money and resources by strategically directing them towards your most important business goals.

Anticipate that there is no "one size fits all" solution. For each objective you may need to tailor your strategy accordingly to achieve that objective.

The age of social media encourages us to be spontaneous, and that spontaneity can be great for capturing certain moments. However, do not underestimate the power of planning ahead. By thinking ahead, by anticipating the market's needs, you are putting yourself ahead of your competition and challenging yourself to be pro-active rather than reactive. This kind of thinking can put you miles ahead of your competition. While they are struggling to catch up to changing circumstances, you will be taking the lead and setting the pace for what happens next.
